Tess is believed to have issued an ultimatum to Vernon and ordered him to cut all contact with Rhian.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Tess is utterly devastated but does not want to give up on her family. She met Vernon on Tuesday night and tore strips off him.
"Vernon has obviously apologised for dragging it up again. Tess has forgiven him but only under some very strict conditions. The main one is that he never speaks to Rhian ever again.
"Of course this affects their brand and the shows they present. They have been viewed as Mr and Mrs Perfect – like Ken and Barbie.
"This makes him look sleazy, and is anyone really going to believe what he is saying?
"Tess has been humiliated by Vernon and she knows now that wherever she goes, people will be whispering and joking about her."
In 2010, it emerged that Vernon had been 'sexting' Rhian, however the pair denied cheating.
