The couple called off their engagement late in 2015 after it was said they were unable to agree on where they should live. Cox permanently resides in Los Angeles with her daughter Coco, while her ex-husband – and Coco's father – David Arquette also lives in the city. McDaid, meanwhile, is originally from Northern Ireland.
It is thought the issue of where the couple should live caused problems in their relationship last year, but they are now thought to be looking at other options.
A source is quoted by OK! magazine as saying: "A permanent move is off the table, but Courteney is willing to spend more time in Ireland to make the relationship work. At this point, she'll bend over backward to make Johnny happy."
"Being away from Johnny made Courteney realize how much she missed him," a source added.
Cox, 51, and 39-year-old McDaid first met in 2013 having been introduced by a mutual friend. They were engaged for 18 months at the time of their separation.
