US Supreme Court Strikes Down Abortion Law

The US Supreme Court has struck down a 2013 abortion law in Texas, it has been reported.

The law requires doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals and clinics to maintain hospital-like conditions. However, it has been claimed that the law places restrictive regulations on terminations.


While many said the law protects women, others argues that the ruling restricts access to abortions.

In his ruling, Justice Anthony Kennedy sided with the court's 5-3 decision to strike down the law. It is the first time the High Court has limited state abortion legislation in over 15 years.
