In an interview with Hello! magazine, the 46-year-old revealed that she actually met her partner – Nick Feehey – on a blind date.
She told the publication of that initial date: "After a few drinks, we were getting on so well and as we relaxed in each other's company, I told him everything about my life, all the ups and the downs and the poor guy sat there in shock.
"My thinking was that he could go home, Google my name on the internet and find all kinds of inaccurate nonsense. I wanted him to hear the truth from me first."
The 46-year-old also praised her boyfriend for making her fall in love again.
She explained: "I never thought I'd feel like this again, that I'd fall in love and get the chance to start a new life. It's been a revelation to him, too. And because we make each other so happy, it's changed our lives."
McLean has been married twice before. Her first marriage was to Nick Green in 2000. The couple, who have one child, a son named Finlay, 14, together, divorced in 2005. She then tied the knot with Steve Toms. The couple separated in 2011. They have a nine-year-old daughter together, Amy.
Nick was previously married; he separated from his wife three years ago.
