Death Of Baby Girl Treated As Suspicious

The death of a baby girl at a family unit last month is now being treated as suspicious, it has been reported.

The girl, named as three-month-old Sophia Williams, died at Edinburgh's Royal Hospital for Sick Children after she fell ill at Strathbrock family unit in Broxburn. At the time, Police Scotland said the death was being treated as “unexplained”.

However, Detective Inspector Rory Hamilton, Police Scotland, has now said the death is being treated as suspicious.

He is quoted by the BBC as saying: "We are now treating the death of Sophia Williams as suspicious. Our investigation continues as we work towards establishing the full set of circumstances that led to Sophia's death and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."
