McConnell has always denied claims by Stephanie Davis that he fathered a child with her, but has said that he is willing to take a paternity test and if it proves that he is the boy's father, he will "step up" and support his son.
However, the model has now said that while he is still willing to take a test, his ex is yet to contact him – despite her repeated calls for him to take a paternity test as well.
Davis gave birth to her first child earlier this month and shortly after the birth, McConnell, 26, was quoted by Star magazine as saying: "I am delighted that Steph has safely had the baby. If he is my son, I will absolutely step up and do what I can to support him.
"Any timescale for that is in Steph's hands now. I did reach out to her some weeks ago but didn't hear back."
A source is also quoted as saying: "He's told friends he really wants to sort the situation out and find out if he is the father. If he is the dad of the child, then he's determined to step up to the plate."
Davis, 23, and McConnell met last year when they both appeared on Celebrity Big Brother. They started dating once they left the show, but they ended their short and turbulent relationship in May 2016. Shortly afterwards, Davis announced that she was expecting her first child, and that McConnell was the father, however this is a claim he has repeatedly denied.
