Flanagan, 26, is a mother to 19-month-old daughter Matilda but said that she found it difficult to leave her daughter as she returned to acting.
Speaking to OK! magazine, the mum-of-one said: "My mum is doing most of the childcare, but I did get a bit of 'mum guilt' when I first had to leave her to go back to Corrie. I've never felt anything like that before.
"Then I thought, 'I'm not doing anything wrong. Just because I'm going to work doesn't mean that I'm a bad mum'. I cried the first day I dropped her off at nursery."
The actress went on to say how becoming a mother has changed her life, adding: "I am a million times happier. I love being a mum. I've always wanted to be a mum.
"Matilda is my pride and joy. She's my everything. It has given me a meaning and purpose in life.
"We definitely want more. I think we want to wait until Matilda is four years old. We love her more than anything, but she is definitely enough for us at the moment."
Flanagan and her boyfriend Scott Sinclair have one child together. Their daughter was born in June 2015.
