UUP Urged To Clarify Stance On Same-Sex Marriage

Sinn Féin's Carál Ní Chuilín has said Northern Ireland's Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) needs to clarify its stance over whether it supports marriage equality in the region.

In a statement, Ms Ní Chuilín said: "The UUP and its leader Mike Nesbitt needs to tell the public whether or not his party remains on the 'wrong side of history' in opposition to marriage equality.

"The UUP completely avoids the issue of equal marriage rights in their election manifesto. Sinn Féin will continue to campaign for marriage equality and for the rights of all citizens regardless of race, religion, sexuality or gender."

Northern Ireland is the only region in the UK where same-sex marriage is against the law.
