Anna Faris Speaks Out Following Split

Anna Faris has claimed that the idea of her partner being her best friend is "overhyped".

The actress made the comments during an essay for October's issue of Cosmopolitan's 'On My Mind' column.

Her comments come just a month after she and her husband Chris Pratt announced that they had separated after eight years of marriage.

The 40-year-old is quoted as saying: "I was once told that I didn't need a tight group of girlfriends because Chris should be my best friend.

"But I never bought that. The idea of your mate being your best friend – that's overhyped. I really believe that your partner serves one purpose and each friend serves another."

Anna and Chris, 38, married in Bali in 2009 and have one child together; a five-year-old son named Jack. Last month, the couple announced that they were to separate.
