Many families use the Halloween break to take a holiday abroad, but a new survey by sunshine.co.uk found that NI parents have to pay more to do so.
More than 2,100 participants were asked how much they spent on their October holiday and Northern Ireland topped the list with a cost of £3,280. The region was followed by Wales (£3,120) and the South East (£3,010). Scotland families spend an average of £2,650 on their break, while those in Greater London spend £2,470. At the bottom of the list is the East Midlands (£1,240).
When it comes to destinations, Spain secured first place with 13% of the vote, followed by Gran Canaria (9%) and Tenerife (8%). America (6%), Croatia (5%) and Morocco (5%) also made it into the top 10 destinations.
Chris Clarkson, Managing Director at sunshine.co.uk, is quoted as saying: "October half term is a very popular option for families looking to travel abroad – not only is it usually a little quieter and often more affordable than the peak summer period, it's also that bit cooler in many destinations, so it can be a bit more comfortable.
"The same can be said for the February and May half term breaks in early 2018, so booking a trip abroad for those dates now could be a wise move."
