The actor, who is 62 years old, is understood to be expecting a child with his girlfriend – 33-year-old Louise Ford.
Atkinson, who is notoriously private when it comes to his personal life, has not commented on the claims but Ms Ford was spotted out and about in London with a large baby bump, fuelling speculation that she is due to give birth within the next few weeks.
A source is quoted by The Sunday People as saying: "Rowan and Louise are over the moon and can't wait for their new arrival. It's a very happy time for them both."
In 2014, Atkinson's 24-year marriage to Sunetra Sastry was said to be in trouble after the actor was alleged to have a new woman in his life. The woman was later said to be Ms Ford, an actress Rowan had met the previous year when they starred in West End comedy Quartermain's Terms.
In 2015, Atkinson and Sastry divorced and shortly after this, the actor was said to have moved his girlfriend into his home in North London.
Atkinson is a father to Benjamin, 23, and 22-year-old Lily from his marriage to Sastry.
