The singer was speaking to Hello! magazine, when she opened up about her battle with uterine fibroids.
Knight, 44, explains that children had not been "part of her plan" due to the tumours, resulting in her undergoing a hysterectomy earlier this year. She has subsequently spent a majority of 2017 recovering from the operation.
Discussing her diagnosis, she told the publication: "I noticed that my tummy was very swollen. At first I assumed I was pregnant. I thought, 'this cannot be happening'.
"When I was told that my condition was creating a high risk of a stroke or worse, I was stunned. I never get ill and this was a real wake-up call. It's been a slow recovery but I should be healed completely soon."
She went on to say that as she cannot have children of her own, she is focusing on her nieces and nephews. "I'm a proud aunty and godmum," she said, "but having children of my own has never been part of the plan."
