Council Urge Police To Tackle Homelessness Ahead Of Royal Wedding

The leader of Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead has called on police to focus on "aggressive begging" in the district ahead of the Royal wedding in May.

Simon Dudley has written to Berkshire police and crime commissioner (PCC), Anthony Stansfeld, to ask him to urgently address street begging, which he claims has created a "hostile atmosphere" for both residents and tourists.

Mr Dudley emphasised how the issue needs to be dealt with "before the royal wedding" of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

However, Mr Dudley has been criticised for his comments on homelessness, with the Windsor Homeless Project describing his views as "abhorrent".
