Vicar To 'Fine' Couples Late To Their Own Wedding

Couples who arrive on time for their wedding ceremony will get a £100 "refund", in one vicar's efforts to keep events running on schedule.

A £100 fee included in the cost of having your wedding ceremony at Holy Cross Church in Bearsted, or St Mary's Church in Thurnham, will be handed back to couples who manage to arrive on time.

And for those couples who are late to their own wedding, the money will given to volunteers at the church, as compensation for working longer than they had been asked.

The "fine" has been introduced by Canon John Corbyn, who in 2003 banned brides wanting to get married in his church from wearing strapless wedding gowns.
