Russell Brand's Family Cured His Loneliness

Russell Brand has opened up about his struggle with loneliness and thanked his family for finding a solution and helping him to feel less alone.

The 43-year-old comedian said he felt isolated and disconnected from society at the height of his career in the early 2000's, despite being surrounded by people for his various TV roles.

Speaking in a video entitled 'Dealing with Loneliness' that he posted on social media, the TV personality admitted that he self-medicated with drugs through the worst of his troubles, but is now completely sober.

"Perhaps loneliness is one of those modern taboos, people feel a bit ashamed of it," he revealed.

"I used to be really lonely until quite late in life, actually. I suppose it implies that you're not happy with your own company, my solution to that for a long time was to use drugs when I was alone, it was only a temporary solution.

"What I then did is learned to be alone in a more peaceful, harmonious way by just trying it. It's the sort of thing you have to practice with."

The star continued that his wife, Laura Gallacher, and his two daughters have now transformed his life.
