Last night, the public saw the pair record their acceptance speech for the BRIT's in front of a portrait of the royal.
As the power couple weren't present for the BRIT Awards, they appeared in a pre-recorded video message thanking everyone for their win. In the video, they appeared to be standing in front of a portrait of Meghan Markle which depicts her as a queen. The painting is by artist Tim O'Brien, which he premiered in 2018 on the cover of The Key magazine.
As they accepted their award for Best International Group, they made no reference to the painting but had their single, 'Everything is Love', playing in the background.
Beyoncé later took to her Instagram to explain why she and Jay-Z chose to feature Meghan Markle in artform. She wrote: "In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy."
The Key magazine is an alumni publication for the sorority Kappa Kappa Gamme. Meghan was a member of the sorority between 2001 and 2003 when she attended the Northwestern University. The artist, O'Brien, has also previously painted Beyoncé in the style of Queen Elizabeth I.
