Jada Pinkett Smith Was Reluctant To Marry

Jada Pinkett Smith has spoken of how she was reluctant to get married to Will Smith in 1997.

The pair are often hailed a power couple after 22 years of marriage, but the 'Girls Trip' actress "never wanted" to tie the knot and considers their union as more of a partnership.


Speaking to People magazine, the 47-year-old said: "I had never seen a happy marriage. I adored Will, but I just didn't want to be married.

"It's more of a life partnership ... I don't own him. He doesn't own me. He has to be his own person first, and vice versa ... Love is freedom."

The couple have son Jaden, 21, and daughter Willow, 18, together and Jada now believes they are stronger than when they first tied the knot.
