The actor told USA Today he is the most content he has ever been since having Arlo, now four, with his wife Leighton Meester.
Adam said: "Becoming a dad has given me a perspective on every aspect of my life. I'm the most content I've ever been. ... It makes (turning 40) more exciting.
"We're homebodies. Candy Land is what we're doing now."
The couple, who are both in the TV industry, are trying to ensure one of them is always available to look after Arlo while they both work on new projects.
