Following a decade of marriage, the celebrity duo split in June 2015 and settled their divorce some three years later.
On reflection, ending things with the actress, who is mum to his three children, is a massive regret for the actor.
"The biggest regret of my life is this divorce," he told the New York Times.
Ben and Jennifer went their separate ways amid his battle with alcohol addiction, and while his drinking was under control at the time of their marriage, 'the 'Justice League' star said it became a problem when things began to come away at the seams.
He explained: "Shame is really toxic. There is no positive byproduct of shame. It's just stewing in a toxic, hideous feeling of low self-worth and self-loathing.
"I drank relatively normally for a long time. What happened was that I started drinking more and more when my marriage was falling apart. This was 2015, 2016. My drinking, of course, created more marital problems."
